How Much Does Sclerotherapy Cost?

Spider veins are a cosmetic issue, and insurance coverage is not generally allowed for procedures that are not considered medically necessary. Therefore, treatment of spider veins is something patients typically pay for out of pocket.

That said, sclerotherapyis the most effective and least painful method of spider vein treatment. Because you move forward, it's reasonable to know how much it will cost.

The real question you should ask is not simply "What will it cost?" but "What value am I getting for my money?" You can visit a low cost-per-session provider, only to find out that you will need many more sessions of sclerotherapy than required by a slightly higher cost-per-session doctor. For example, if one doctor tells you that eight sessions at $250 ($2,000) are needed, but another says three at $500 ($1,500) are needed, your out-of-pocket expense will be lower with the second doctor.

Also, be sure you see before and after photographs of patients your doctor has treated himself. Don't settle for downloaded Internet pictures that may have been edited or PhotoShopped. You want the assurance that, in your doctor's hands, your spider veins have the greatest chance of disappearing.

There is no established standard cost for sclerotherapy. It varies city to city and practice by practice, as physician experience and history of delivering effective service are key variables. Be wise and seek an experienced provider who will stand behind his or her service and give a result that will make you happy.
