What is Botox®?

Botox Cosmetic treatments are used to reverse the visible signs of aging such as crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead lines. Botox is a medicine that relaxes muscle. It is injected into areas where repeated facial muscle contraction has folded the skin and produced a line. Because of its strong safety record and proven results, Botox treatment is the most widely used facial cosmetic treatment worldwide.

How does it work?

Botox Cosmetic is derived from Botulinum Type A and is FDA approved. We use a tiny micro-needle to inject a small amount of Botox into overactive facial muscles, causing the muscles to relax and soften skin wrinkles. For several months following injection of Botox the facial muscle contraction is very weak allowing the skin to flatten, reducing lines and wrinkles. Facial wrinkles can be reversed quickly with minimal discomfort and patients can return to normal activity immediately. Our patients understand that Botox does not lead to a permanent elimination of facial lines. Repeat administration of the treatment is needed to maintain the improvements. Patients should anticipate that the effects of Botox will last 3-4 months on average.
