Laser Genesis
Even the healthiest skin isn’t immune to imperfections. Redness, fine lines, large pores, acne scars and uneven texture — not to mention environmental damage that may be impossible to avoid — can leave your complexion looking dull and drab. For smoother, younger-looking skin with a gorgeous glow, our Laser Genesis treatment restores radiance and treats blemishes with no downtime or recovery.
What Is Laser Genesis?
Laser Genesis is a noninvasive laser facial that improves superficial skin revitalization concerns. The treatment is performed with nonablative Nd:YAG laser technology that gently heats the skin at the optimal depth to stimulate collagen production and fibroblast growth. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results that get better with each treatment and last for months. Our laser facials are convenient, comfortable and safe for all skin types.
What Does Laser Genesis Treat?
Laser Genesis promotes a healthy, vibrant complexion by treating common skin concerns, including:
- Diffuse redness
- Rosacea
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Large pores
- Uneven skin texture
- Acne
- Scars
- Pigmentation
- Dull complexion
Laser Genesis is typically used to address these concerns on the face, neck and chest. It can also be used to diminish the appearance of scars on other parts of the body.
Why Choose a Laser Facial to Rejuvenate Your Skin?
Laser Genesis is one of the gentlest laser treatments available. Patients and doctors alike love this laser facial for its many benefits:
- Nonsurgical and nonablative
- No need for anesthesia
- Performed in the comfort of our office
- Quick treatment times
- Few, if any, side effects
- No downtime
- Immediate return to regular activities
- Safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types
Laser Genesis vs IPL
Laser Genesis and IPL both use light to refresh the skin from the inside out. The primary difference between these two treatments is the type of light that is used. Laser systems produce high-energy, focused beams of intense, single-wavelength light. IPL systems deliver a broad spectrum — meaning many wavelengths — of visible light with each pulse. Laser Genesis can be used on a wider variety of skin tones, while IPL is safest for light to medium skin tones. Which treatment is best for you also depends on the condition of your skin and the issues you want to treat.
Laser Genesis vs Fraxel
Fraxel is a fractional laser that emits microscopic laser columns that create micro-injuries in the skin. Because the laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, while leaving the surrounding tissue intact, healing time is reduced compared to more aggressive laser resurfacing techniques. Fraxel laser treatments can be ablative (which removes the outer layer of skin) or nonablative (which heats the underlying tissue). Treatments with Laser Genesis are always nonablative.
What Is a Laser Genesis Treatment Like?
When you arrive at one of our Capitol Vein and Laser Centers, you will be made comfortable in a treatment room and your skin will be cleansed. Your practitioner will explain what to expect during and after a laser facial, and answer any questions you may have about Laser Genesis before the procedure begins. During the treatment, the laser handpiece will be moved back and forth over your skin until the entire treatment area has been covered. Laser Genesis is not painful and requires no anesthetic, but you may feel a mild warming sensation. Many patients describe the treatment as relaxing, soothing or therapeutic. A laser facial typically takes around 30 minutes, but your appointment may be shorter or longer depending on the areas being treated.
What Should I Expect After the Procedure?
You can return to work and other activities immediately after your treatment. There is no discomfort or required downtime. Because it is gentle and noninvasive, there are few Laser Genesis side effects or risks. The most common is a minor temporary redness that dissipates within a few hours of treatment. Increasing sun protection for a few days after a laser treatment is wise, but there are no specific products you will be instructed to use. Your practitioner will review any risks and post-treatment requirements prior to your procedure. If you have questions or concerns following your laser facial, please contact our office.
How Effective Is Laser Genesis?
Skin improvements from a Laser Genesis treatment are seen over time, with optimal results appearing around the six-month mark. You will see a more even, healthier-looking complexion as wrinkles are reduced, large pores are minimized, and scars, sun damage and other minor imperfections are diminished.
Although the benefits of a single laser facial are subtle, the overall effect of multiple sessions can be dramatic, and it is achieved without the downtime and side effects associated with traditional laser skin therapies. Most patients require four to six treatments to achieve their desired outcome. After the initial series is finished, you can follow up once or twice yearly to maintain the results. We will discuss your recommended number of sessions and a reasonable timeline in which to complete them during your consultation.
Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Genesis?
Laser facials can provide beautiful results to those looking to correct redness, signs of aging, sun damage and textural concerns, including those with acneic or sensitive skin. Laser Genesis is ideal for patients who lead active lifestyles and want to improve their appearance with no disruption of their daily schedule. All skin tones can safely undergo this treatment. You will have a consultation to determine if Laser Genesis is the best option for your skin concerns and if there are any contraindications that would make treatment inadvisable.
